FAQ — Final Furlong Racing Stable

Question 1

How Do You Structure Your Partnerships?

Accepted Answer

Each of our horses is set up under a separate LLC — the LLC itself owns the horse.

Question 2

What Do I Actually Own?

Accepted Answer

As an owner you have full ownership (to your %) of the horse and everything the horse does — including your % of purse earnings, sale proceeds, and breeding rights.

Question 3

How Much Is The Quarterly Maintenance?

Accepted Answer

Although costs can vary, a good assumption is approximately $170 per 1% ownership per quarter.

Question 4

Are There Any "Perks" To Being an Owner?

Accepted Answer

As a licensed owner (we can assist in getting you licensed) you are entitled to all benefits including admission, race day paddock entry, parking, barn visits, and more.

Question 5

Is My Ownership Transferable or Saleable?

Accepted Answer

In the unforeseen circumstance you want to either sell or transfer your ownership of your % of your horse, we will work with you to find a buyer within the partnership.

Question 6

Who Makes The Decisions On The Races?

Accepted Answer

While we value all partners' input on the career path of a horse and welcome all ideas, our team is in constant contact with our trainers and typically rely on them to make the decisions — as they are the ones with your horse day in and day out.

Question 7

Why Do You Buy New York Bred Horses?

Accepted Answer

While we like to joke and say "Because we want to go to every race" — that is only partially true. NYRA tracks aren't only beautiful and carry some of the sport's highest purses; New York has one of the most lucrative awards programs in the sport as well as restricted stakes races and an enhanced purse structure. New York bred horses are also eligible for additional purse money when entered against open company in certain races.

Question 8

What Do Partners Think Of The Stable / Experience?

Accepted Answer

We strive to make each partner experience as great as possible. Reach out to us directly and we'd be happy to connect you with current partners who can share their experience firsthand.

Question 9

How Do The Taxes Work?

Accepted Answer

Each horse is structured as a separate LLC and will file a K-1 which you will receive via our CPA group by mid to late March. You will get an email with an invitation to create a client access account from the Green Group. The subject of the email will be the entity name and the tax year K-1 — where you will be able to find and download all the tax information you need to file your taxes via their secure server. We do not email any sensitive tax information to partners directly. The portal is available at www.clientaxcess.com.

Question 10

How Do I Get Started?

Accepted Answer

We would love to chat with you before you make any final decisions on purchasing your horse. You can reserve your % of the offering through the secure checkout by clicking the "Become a Partner" link on the offering page. We will then generate a partnership agreement and email it to you to fill out and sign. If you prefer to do things the old-fashioned way, we can mail you the agreement and you can return it with a check.
